The 'love locks' attached to Diglis Bridge in Worcester will soon be removed to enable essential maintenance work.
»Æ¹ÏÊÓƵ County Council is inviting people who placed a lock to collect them before Wednesday 16 July, ensuring their personal mementos can be preserved.
The locks have become a familiar sight on the bridge, mirroring a trend seen in cities like Paris, Cologne, and Barcelona.
Councillor Karl Perks, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Transport and Highways, said: “The removal of the locks will allow us to carry out general maintenance and improve appearance of the bridge which include giving it a full clean. We understand the locks may be important so the people who placed them, so we’re giving an opportunity for them to be collected before work begins.â€
Any unclaimed locks will be stored until the end of August and can be retrieved from the County Council reception at Wildwood, Wildwood Drive, Worcester.
